Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, Heather Finlay BA (Hons), PGDip, MBACP, FDAP, worked for over 25 years as a music PR representing many high-profile artists, initially for major record labels before setting up her own highly successful agency, Sainted PR, which she ran for 18 years. Consequently, she has an inherent understanding of the music industry, its unique pressures, and their impact on both artists and industry professionals.
Heather trained in Addiction Psychology and Counselling at London South Bank University, and in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy with the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute, and is currently undertaking an MSc in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy at the Metanoia Institute. She is also a qualified personal development coach.
Heather is currently doing a research study on the interaction between creativity, cannabis use and schizotypal traits in individuals working in artistic and non-artistic professions.
Heather runs a private practice in central London where she sees a wide array of clients, including artists and executives working in the music industry providing support with issues such as anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship issues and low self-esteem. She also works with the charity Music Support UK. Prior to this Heather gained extensive experience working both with individuals and facilitating group work at Charter Harley Street, a leading private clinic specialising in addiction, eating disorders, trauma and emotional issues, and at Acorn House in Shoreditch, a residential rehab for homeless men with drug and alcohol problems.
