Michele Simon

Psychotherapist (MA, LMFT) I

About me

I am a licensed psychotherapist with a private practice in Dana Point, California. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles (2017) and trained as an intern at the prestigious C. G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles. Currently, I am a fifth-year Candidate in the Analyst Training Program at the Institute to become a certified Jungian Analyst.

In addition to my degree in Clinical Psychology, I hold a Master of Arts in Sociology from San Diego State University (1994), where I conducted an in-depth study of the culture of MTV and the pop star Madonna from a symbolic and archetypal perspective. This unique academic focus laid the foundation for my later career in the music industry.

My background

After completing my first degree in sociology, I moved to Los Angeles and began working for the President of Capitol Records in the iconic Hollywood and Vine tower. Over more than twenty years, I collaborated with my mentor to create successful management companies and record labels. This immersive experience allowed me to engage with all facets of the music business, from discovering new talent to managing artists’ development, touring, and promotion. I have had the honor of working with some of the most renowned artists in the industry, including The Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters, Counting Crows, Tears for Fears, Soundgarden, and John Legend.

The decades spent nurturing and celebrating musical talent profoundly shaped my personal and professional growth. Working closely with passionate musicians, executives, managers, and label personnel revealed a calling to help others navigate and create meaning within the creative world around them.

Working with me

In my practice, I primarily adopt a Jungian and psychodynamic approach, aiding clients in processing childhood and trauma wounds, reconciling interpersonal relationship issues, and overcoming creative and personal blocks.

The Jungian approach, with its emphasis on the unconscious, archetypes, and the process of individuation, provides a rich framework for exploring the psyche. I work closely with creative individuals—artists, musicians, writers—who seek to understand and harness their artistic energies. Together, we explore personal mythologies, dreams, and symbolic expressions, seeking a profound connection to their inner selves.

I welcome those who are on a quest for personal growth and self-discovery. Whether grappling with life transitions, relationship issues, or existential questions,I aim to collaborate with clients toward a more authentic and fulfilling existence. Utilizing dream interpretation, active imagination, storytelling, and sandtray in the work, clients are encouraged to confront their shadows, integrate disparate parts of themselves, and embark on their own individuation journeys.
