Counselling psychotherapist (PGDip, MBACP, MNCPS Accred) he/him
About me
Hello, I’m Chris and I’m an experienced (jargon alert!) ‘Integrative Counselling Psychotherapist working Relationally’, which essentially means I will offer you a confidential, safe, non-judgemental space to explore whatever brings you to therapy.
I will accept you for who you are, seeing the world through your eyes. I will really hear you, offering the time to find the answers you are looking for. I will not tell you what to do or who you should be, but I will encourage you explore & navigate towards new insights/perspectives which can bring about a better way of relating to yourself and others. I am a trauma informed therapist and experienced working with ADHD, anxiety and relational/relationship issues; basically, the stuff that life throws at us!
I spent 20 years in the music industries, so I’m aware of the many potential challenges of life in the business. I work with individuals & couples.
My background
I worked in music through the 80’s/90’s/00’s (directing music promos, running labels, artist manager, radio/TV plugger) giving me an insider’s experience and view of the industry and the people.
There’s no other industry quite like music, it’s an intoxicating, unique place to inhabit, offering us unbelievable experiences. It can also present us with real challenges too. I’ve often said to myself ‘I wish I’d known then, what I know now,’ I suspect many of us do; reflecting on the person we are or once were, and how we deal with our ‘stuff’.
My personal experiences and empathy for those who chose a life in music has offered me the privileged opportunity to work with music people for 15 years, supporting others to navigate life in and outside this amazing (but sometimes challenging) profession.
I qualified as Integrative Counselling Psychotherapist from the renowned Leeds Metropolitan/Beckett University.
Working with me
Though we all share many similar life events, we each have our own unique way of experiencing them, so the way I work is flexible; I meet you as an individual, supporting you towards a different way of understand yourself and finding your own unique way of creating new meaning.
I am a humanistic, relational (and trauma informed) which means I will accept you exactly as you are and try to see the world through your eyes. I will listen to and really hear you, offering you the time and space you need to find the answers you are looking for. I will not judge or critique you, nor tell you what to do, think or say, or who you should be. We will work collaboratively in a way that suits you, working at your pace to identify, explore and resolve the things that concern you or cause distress.
