Heather Finlay
Psychotherapist and coach (MSc, MBACP)
About me
I am an experienced, certified, relational psychotherapist and tailor my approach to my clients’ individual needs. I worked in the music industry as a PR for over two decades so I understand first-hand the highs, lows and unique pressures that being in this business brings. I work with artists, bands and music industry executives on a wide arrange of issues and I have extensive professional experience in working with dysfunctional relationships, boundaries, family dynamics, anxiety, addiction, life transitions, trauma (especially childhood and adolescent) and the relationship with self… The most important one we’ll ever have. I work with individuals and couples, and I also facilitate group work. I have worked as a sessional therapist for the charity Music Support for many years.
My background
I was a PR in the music industry for many years, initially working for major labels before setting up my own PR agency. I worked directly with many high profile bands and artists and travelled the world with them before retraining as a psychotherapist. I have been in private practice for six years and feel privileged to have carved out a second career that I feel passionate about, and that enables me to continue working with creatives in the music industry and beyond.
Working with me
I trained as a relational psychotherapist, so I work in a collaborative and supportive way with my clients to enable them to work through whatever issues they have sought therapy for. During the process, you will hopefully gain a better understanding of yourself, which in turn creates a resilience and stronger sense of self. In terms of how long it takes to achieve the goals of therapy, that really depends on you and what you want to work through, but I am here to guide and support you until you feel ready to leave. Therapy can often be transformative but It is really important to find the right therapist for you in order in order to achieve this. I work in west London and offer clients in-person and online weekly sessions.
