Laurie Pegg
Integrative Counsellor ( L4 Dip.)
About me
As an integrative counsellor, I use different types of therapy to help you in the way that works best for you. I don’t just stick to one method; instead, I combine ideas from different approaches like exploring past experiences, talking about your thoughts and focusing on your emotions and current challenges. This lets me be flexible and responsive, adjusting to each person’s unique needs.
I believe that our past shapes who we are, and sometimes, without even realising it, we carry certain patterns of behaviour into adulthood. Some of these patterns are helpful and keep us safe, but others can hold us back or even cause harm. My role is to help you identify these patterns and, through counselling, find healthier ways to manage them.
My aim is to help you understand yourself better, build resilience, and find ways to cope with life’s difficulties. I’m here to support you in making positive changes at your own pace, creating a safe and understanding space where you can feel heard and empowered.
My background
Before training as a counsellor, I spent over twenty years in the music industry, working in almost every area. I’ve worked promoter side at festivals, within music sponsorship and marketing, then worked my way up from running a small independent music venue to eventually becoming Content Manager and booker at the O2 Arena in London. I’ve seen the industry from all perspectives, and I believe as such I have a very deep understanding of the unique challenges people working within music face and how that can impact on everyday life.
A key part of what I offer is that I’m still actively involved in music today, managing and developing artists for an independent label. This keeps me connected to the current issues within the industry and witness firsthand how it’s rapidly evolving. I have firsthand insight into how social media is changing and shaping and the landscape and the pressures it places not only on artists but also on everyone working in music and its impact on all areas of their life.
Working with me
I work from my cabin in Kent (TN8) and offer video sessions, or I can come into London if we agree on a suitable space to work from.
Our first session will be an assessment, which is a chance for you to get a feel for how I work, and for me to understand the challenges you’re facing. It’s also an opportunity for both of us to decide if we’re a good fit and if we can work together effectively.
After that, we’ll meet once a week for a one-hour session, with 50 minutes dedicated to counselling. The sessions will be guided by you, focusing on the issues that matter most to you. I’m here to help you explore and make sense of things, using a variety of counselling methods to support you along the way.
We can agree on a fixed number of sessions or take an open-ended approach, where we’ll continue until we both feel you’re ready to move forward.
