Stuart Holliday
Psychologist (CPsychol; HCPC Registered)
About me
I am an accredited, UK based Sport and Performance Psychologist. I take a pro-active approach in my work where we work to understand you, your needs, and how you can practically move forward. Using a Cognitive-Behavioural approach, I also looks at you as a whole individual. My specialism is helping people perform under pressure to be better equipped psychologically and emotionally to handle stress, challenge, and change. I was a contributing author to the Touring Manual, and co-author of ‘The Psychology of Running’.
My background
During my time in the music industry before becoming a Psychologist, I promoted and organised events in London, Barcelona and helped set up the Electric Elephant festival in Croatia. Late nights, tight deadlines, last-minute changes of schedule and understanding the anxieties and pressures of the music business are all factors I have first-hand experience of.
Working with me
I understand that the human emotion and behaviour of people under pressure can appear fun and games to the public, but that isn’t always the case for those delivering the entertainment (Whether you’re on stage or behind the scenes). If you work with me, I see our work as a collaboration to help you understand yourself better and how to get the best out of yourself. Having worked for Professor Steve Peters in Olympic, Paralympic and Premiership sport, I often use the Chimp model in my work. Fundamentally I fit my approach to your needs and what you’re most comfortable for you. I take my work seriously, but try and make our work fun, while still challenging you to help get you to where you want to be. I tend to work to a block of sessions, but do have some clients whose work with me is ongoing.
