Whitney O’Malley
Psychotherapist (MA, LMFT) she/her
About me
My goal is to support my clients through life’s greatest challenges, providing new insight, skills and emotional tools to help them make choices they’re proud of and live more authentically.
I provide a non-judgmental and accepting environment for individuals and groups to increase self-awareness and find new strategies to cope with difficult emotions.
Specializing in anxiety, depression, relationship issues, family conflict, low self-esteem, stress management and anger management, I help people through professional challenges, trauma, loss, substance abuse, and feelings of inadequacy or stagnation.
I call upon my experience in the music business including music management, marketing at a record label and working directly for an artist running their philanthropic organization to help me relate to the unique challenges and stressors my clients are going through.
My background
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the music industry.
I am grateful for my experience in artist management, marketing for a major label and an imprint label and then working directly for an artist running their philanthropic organization.
Although I loved the incredible colleagues I had in the music industry, it is a privilege to help my clients each day as a therapist. I currently work with individuals in any profession, although I feel a sense of camaraderie with people working in music since I spent many years in that ecosystem. I also help artists and bands, lending my unique understanding of their struggles to our work.
I have additional experience working with people struggling with anger and co-facilitated a group for men looking to find new, less aggressive ways to deal with their emotions.
Working with me
My integrated approach is collaborative, strength-based and includes evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness. If you choose to work with me, I will invite you to share what is working well in your life as well as what is not. We will discuss your current goals and challenges and how your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors are either helping you or getting in the way. We will focus on the present initially and dive into past experience when it is helpful in understanding your current dilemmas.
